I’ll wait a couple of years before I decide if I’m going to rob a bank so I can afford tickets when he’s due to QB the Broncos when they’re due to play the Cards here in the Valley of the Sunburn in 2026.

If I’m being totally honest that’s my favorite part of this.

Payton believes strongly enough that Nix is his guy that’s he’s staking a lot of his reputation and legacy on this. If Nix bombs Sean is gone, George would be gone along the way, and Sean’s chances of being in the HOF take a big hit.

The amount of skin in the game the GM, HC, and even ownership have in this is unbelievable. I think that raises the possibility of success as you know they’re all committed to giving him what he needs to succeed. There will be no half measures, we’re all in and we know who to blame if it goes wrong.

Go Broncos and go Bo Nix!

I'm excited about Bo. This is Payton's hand picked guy, so he's putting his rep & legacy on it. For any doubters on his ability, check out the Chase Daniel breakdown on him. Also, Chris Simms says he is a legit franchise QB candidate. He is super smart, has a fast processor, great work effort, and pretty good arm. Also, Simms says he is 2nd only to Caleb Williams in the scramble & throw ability after the play breaks down. That is high praise.

Also, it has been reported that apparently that Payton's top 3 QB's were Daniels, Williams, & Nix. He knew he couldn't get to the first two, so after Nix's private workout in early March, he turned to the Broncos staff that was there and said Nix is the guy. LET'S GO!!!!

This is the best thing ever. Hopefully this is the last one, but we could’ve had a new one every year since PFM.

It's not like we had a lot of choice, so I'm going to go in it with best hopes and measured expectations. Paytons gotta do what he's got to do at this point and time, and say what he's gotta say, and act like he's gotta act. I think he did the best he could considering the situation. I'm not holding his Bronco coaching career on this pick ...but this is only the first of many decisions considering this pick going forward.

    Go Broncos!

This makes no sense to me if I’m being honest. How is this just doing what he had to? He had ways to trade up for a JJ, up (weird) for Penix, back for a few others that show some promise, etc.

He decided Nix is his guy. He made the decision on Russ based on his general assessment of the draft he could get what he wanted there, etc. This pick wasn’t a panic pick or something along those lines. Sean decided he wanted Nix and that’s what he did.

Sean’s reputation is absolutely on the line. He wasn’t brought here to fix Russ, he was brought here to right the franchise. That’s the highest we’ve ever drafted a QB, and Nix needs to show us why. Sean did his homework and staked a chunk of his rep on it.

JJ was my first realistic choice (Bo my 2nd)... so you're speaking to the choir. However... and this is based solely on my own conjecture, (I could be totally wrong) but... I personally don't think they had carte blanche either. No way is ownership cool with losing their #1 and only face of the brand PS2. And that's precisely what we'd needed to trade up IMO. We had zero shot at the top 2 QB spots regardless. #Three and four would have been too prohibitive considering what capital we've burned through last couple of years. Pick #5 would have been one of those very expensive 'your ass if not homerun' pick. And who knows if we'd even been able to win a bidding war with that one. I really don't think a PS2 trade was ever an option anyway. Let alone for the 5th QB in the draft. So what are we left with?

We couldn't trade back because the Raiders were sitting right there needing a QB along with a couple other teams sitting not too far back. And WE DIDN'T EVEN HAVE A 2ND ROUND PICK.

This maybe not a panic pick... but it was a must pick ...and our hands were tied with what was left for us. We had to pull the trigger on a QB. We are just really fortunate that the QB that naturally fell to us is also a good fit for us and probably a top 3 on Sean's wish list.

It's still not a top 10 pick and it cost us nothing but our natural RND1 pick. Coach is naturally going to play it all peaches and cream.
