Default Why Is Dan Reeves Not In The Hall Of Fame?

Yes, Reeves, as a head coach, never won a Super Bowl but Bud Grant lost four SBs, never won and he's in the Hall. Marv Levy lost four SBs, never won one, and he has a bust in Canton, But Dan Reeves doesn't? I don't understand this. And now Don Coryell, who never won a Super Bowl, is getting in. I have nothing against any of the other coaches but Reeves' absence is rather onvious at this point.

As Bronco fans, I think we need to put some effort in pushing Reeves to the forefront.
I miss the old Mile High Stadium.

That one is easy. He wasn't that good at the end of his career, nobody was looking at this time with the Giants and Falcons and thinking he belonged in Canton. He might have a chance some day to be voted in as one of those old timey candidates like Coryell, but he will have to wait another 15 years.

Because nobody gives a shit about anything other than Championships especially when it comes to coaching. Had he won just one of the Superbowls he coached in, he’d have been in long ago. Also, had he coached the Cowboys or Steelers, he’d have been in by now. It shocks me that they put Don Coryell in before guys like Reeves or Mike Shanahan, but well, there it is.

He was carried to three Super Bowls by John Elway.

Also, while he was a good organizational coach, he could be a tyrant (in 1984, Louis Wright called him an ogre) at times. Also, he didn't understand modern offensive football. Steve Watson called his offensive scheme The Edsel System.

Don Coryell had a revolutionary offense that influenced the offense we still see today. Reeves had the most dinosaur offense of all time. That's not to say Reeves shouldn't be in, but it's a no brainer to me that Coryell would go in first.

Because he doesn't deserve to be.
“When we do find that guy, we’ve got to have the continuity on the offensive side to where we can train him and develop him and get him there. This is our fourth offense in probably three or four years. Quarterbacks need to be developed. You don’t find one ready-made. We got to have a solid system in place for when we do go after whatever guy it may be, a young guy or a trade or whatnot.”

Coryell engineered one of the three most prevalent offenses in use today, he did it the F’n 70’s. Reeves’ offense was old and moldy when he was in Denver.

If Bud Grant and Marv Levy are in the HOF essentially for taking four teams to the SB then Reeves should be. They were both first class hall of farmers too with no questions.

I believe he went to 9 SBs as a player and coach. Designed perhaps one of the more dynamic offenses of the 70s.

Before the haters say he won only because of Elway here, I will remind Chris Chandler. One of the greatest upsets in the history of the NFL. The Vikings in 1998 were virtually unstoppable. Broke several records. They go on the road with Chandler and win that game.

Again, took 4 teams to SBs.

Anyone want to compare and contrast Reeves record with Levy. Ok.

As a head coach, Reeves finished with over 200 regular season and playoff wins (201-174-2). He is one of only 9 head coaches to finish his career with that many wins. Based off just his coaching career Reeves deserves to be in the Hall of Fame.

Marv Levy compiled a record of 191 wins and 156 losses and 4 ties in his coaching career with the Montreal Alouettes, Kansas City Chiefs, Chicago Blitz and Buffalo Bills.

Yes, many of those wins credited to Levy are with the CFL and USFL.

Reeves cleared 200 wins in the NFL. BTW, look at what happened with the Giants once Reeves left. Remember he took over after Parcells and actually led the team with Simms to an 11 and 5 record during that Cowboy dynasty era.

    Oh..

    Yeah

    Chris Chandler. Ok? Case closed

It’s harder for HC’s to get in, it just raises the bar too high for Reeves.

BroncoKnight made a good case. What’s your counter other than you don’t think so?

I don’t think anything, I’m just not looking at it like a fan. Y’all point to people that are in and compare the résumé, which is perfectly logical, but now do that with HC’s that aren’t in, I bet there’s quite a few so he’s not getting overlooked or screwed.

He coached the Giants, and NY doesn’t get much better for HoF voters.

So you can’t counter BroncoKnight with facts?
