Default Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers sounds off after reporter calls him 'the biggest jerk in the league'

GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Aaron Rodgers had strong words for the MVP voter who said this week that he would not cast his vote for the Green Bay Packers quarterback because he's "the biggest jerk in the league" and "a bad guy."

Those comments came from Hub Arkush, a Chicago-based reporter who owns one of the 50 votes for The Associated Press' Most Valuable Player award.

"I think he's a bum," Rodgers said Wednesday. "I think he's an absolute bum. He doesn't know me. I don't know who he is; no one knew who he was, probably, until yesterday's comments. I listened to the comments, but to say he had his mind made up in the summertime, in the offseason, that I had zero chance of winning MVP, in my opinion, should exclude future votes. His problem isn't with me being a bad guy or the biggest jerk in the league. He doesn't know me."

Arkush, who is the editor of Pro Football Weekly and contributes to other Chicago-area media, made his comments on Chicago radio station 670 The Score and has since said he regrets saying he would not vote for Rodgers because of his issues with the quarterback's off-the-field habits, such as his decision not to get vaccinated.

Didn't something like this happen to Manning in 2013? One guy wouldn't vote for him.

Rodgers is a jerk but if you are a voter it should only be dependent on what happens on the field.

Hub Arkush is literally a legend in his field, he used to own and run Pro Football Weekly, he’s been around since Don Magikowski days.

Rodgers literally sounds like a petulant orange POS we all know too well.

Or what didn’t happen on the field because you’re a huge anti-vaxx doucher.

Rodgers is a selfish, entitled, crybaby who is sensitive....but he's not close to the biggest jerk in the league.

He deserves scorn, but since the NFL MVP award is a QB's award, it's him or Brady.

This is like calling Jeff Dickerson a bum, King, Arkush is legitimate NFL journalist material.

Jonathan Taylor is the MVP, IMO.

But we have scorned RB's in our quest.

Anyone who has beef with Dickerson is a POS and they're trash.

Look, Rodgers isn't a man of principle. We know this. But the fact it's a Chicago writer is going to come across as sour grapes.

Technically, not getting vaccinated and lying about it does affect what happens on the field due to the COVID protocols. Similarly, AB's, Ray Rice's, etc. actions off the field affected what happened on the field because it prevented AB, Ray Rice, etc. from being on the field, but their actions didn't expose their teammates to possible infection that would have prevented the teammates from being and playing on the field. Frankly, I believe that Colts RB Jonathan Taylor or even Brady are just as deserving, if not more deserving, of winning the MVP.

Nah. I get your point but if we are going to do that lets start removing guys like Lawrence Taylor and Michael Irvin out of the HOF for being douchebags. Im not defending Aaron's lying about being vaccinated as ive been on record saying the dude is a ***** but when it comes to NFL records the stats on the field is what matters, not one's personal life choices.

The guy literally said he made up his mind this summer he wouldn't vote for Rodgers, you know, before the season started. A guy like that shouldn't be allowed one of 50 MVP votes. That would be like giving me a vote. Brady could throw for 7000 yards, 80 touchdowns, cure Covid and raise the dead and I'd still be FYTB, no vote for you!
