Jeanty and Warren will both be gone, so will Omarion Hampton. Hopefully the Michigan TE is gone too.

Which might be a blessing in disguise, you don’t take TE’s and RB’s in the 1st round with a roster that is this ordinary. This offense just isn’t built to be PFM’s Colts, it’s built like PFM’s last season Broncos. The only differences are the Beautiful Mind is SP and not the physically limited QB, and DT/Julius Thomas are not walking through that door.

The Broncos offense will only be as dynamic as SP can make it and he clearly insists on “Fits the system”, so they have to hedge their bets build around the defense.

Besides, If SP can somehow coax Drew Brees out of Pro Nix it won’t be because of Jeanty or Warren. SP got Drew Brees out of Drew Brees with Mark Ingram and Alex Trautman . . . the Broncos need to add more Cameron Jordan.

They need to nail this draft because the Broncos are already starting to put themselves in SP’s Saints salary cap hell, this is the best argument I can make for drafting Jeanty and Warren. Two players that are actually worth the contracts/restructuring they just gave McFlinchey and Powers, two players with a chance to be worth a shit when it’s impossible to get out from under their pointless extensions.

If Pro Nix develops into a legit franchise QB the Broncos are wasting the 5-year rookie contract advantage by sinking cap space into players that were already under contract, or worse, the DJ Jones of the world.

Meanwhile, Zach Allen, Nik Bonitto and JFM are looking at DJ Jones/Jonathan Cooper contract and wondering what the **** they’re next contact must be. On top of that, the Broncos have begun contract talks with Sutton instead. Which tells me the Broncos didn’t like the numbers they’re getting from the Allen/Bonitto/JFM camps. This, after extending a 40-year-old JAG LT that could easily be replaced in FA or the draft.

This is just piss poor roster management, the Broncos are grossly overvaluing their JAG players and it’s making it harder to extend the real talent.

Traded back for an extra 2nd. Had to trade up into the 5th for Thornton, so let’s just say we simulated a trade for Sutton and got two 5ths (and be honest, that’s most likely his value).

    30: R1 P30 3-T Derrick Harmon - Oregon
    51: R2 P19 NT Alfred Collins - Texas
62: R2 P30 CB Darien Porter - Iowa St (Freak!!!)
85: R3 P21 WR Savion Williams - TCU (best ‘Joker’ in the entire draft)
    122: R4 P20 5-T Vernon Broughton - Texas
    150: R5 P12 WR Dont'e Thornton Jr - Tennessee
    155: R5 P17 RB Jaydon Blue - Texas
191: R6 P15 TE Maliq Carr - Houston (Shane Calhoun from A&M just got himself drafted, 6-4/250 and ran 4.43, Maliq Carr is my proxy for him because he wasn’t on their draft board).
197: R6 P21 QB Donovan Smith - Houston (Because the Broncos simply cannot be serious about Colt McCoy v2.0)
    208: R6 P32 P Kai Kroeger - South Carolina

I think Jordan's the obvious comp for the impact Harmon could have here. And it's useful to remember that NO went defense with their high picks rather often in the back nine of Payton's tenure. Jordan, Lattimore and Landry just off the top of my head, and Zach Baun was a second (I was so salty when we passed him up for KJ Hamstring). They also liked OL. His best weapons were all mid to late rounders other than Bush and Ingram. Colston (6th?), Graham was late or undrafted, Thomas and Kamara were thirds. Although I think they did spend a late first on Ginn, but we already have Mims.
“When we do find that guy, we’ve got to have the continuity on the offensive side to where we can train him and develop him and get him there. This is our fourth offense in probably three or four years. Quarterbacks need to be developed. You don’t find one ready-made. We got to have a solid system in place for when we do go after whatever guy it may be, a young guy or a trade or whatnot.”

Allen and Bonnito are taking longer because you actually gotta pay good players. They'll get it done after the draft, don't rob me of my hope in this shit timeline. I do think they need to get Sutton done, unless they're getting McMillan. I just hope it's three years at a fair price, not something stupid. Don't get me started on the O-line.

Sutton is the poster boy for the entire overrated roster, especially for WR position, which is loaded in seemingly every draft class. You can find WR2’s on Craigslist.

As for your hope, the reality of the timeline we live in is now inevitable; down is up, up is down, bad is good, good is bad and hope is hopeless.

    Mkay, good talk.

    Yeah SP’s OL was dope af as **** . . . WAS.

Harmon is a dude, I think he can play anywhere on a 3-4 DL. I think Lance Zeirlein (maybe) compared him to Cam Hayward, he’s an AFC North kind of player all day/every day, he’s a good fit for VJ but an even better fit for Jim Leonhard (who I believe will be the DC this time next year).

I think Ginn was drafted by someone else, and super high in round 1 too.

Speaking of former SP players, Dre Greenlaw is Demario Davis v2.0, he’ll make you forget about Zach Baun if he can stay healthy.

Im pretty excited to see him wear orange and blue. He’s the most dynamic ilb we’ve had since Danny T.
